Grenco Science G Pen Elite Dry Herb Vaporizer Review

The G Pen Elite vaporizer is a new portable dry-herb vape from Grenco Science. Smooth and sleek, this device is a portable conduction vaporizer powered by a lithium-ion battery with smart-chip technology that makes it perfect for vaping on the go.

Grenco Science G Pen Elite Testing and Performance

There have been a couple of versions of the G Pen. The G Pen Pro is the earlier version which had a smaller oven capacity and pre-set temperature settings. The G Pen Elite is the upgraded version with a larger oven capacity and the ability to customize your heat settings by pushing the buttons up or down.

Build Quality and Design

The quality of the device seems to be pretty solid. It has a bit of heaviness to it which suggests it is solid and sturdy. The design is different than most vaporizers of this size. It is about the same height as the Mighty. It is shaped more like a bullet with smooth cut out sides which make it very easy to hold and grip. The texture on the outside is smooth with rubberized grips on the sides.  It feels very smooth and fits nicely in your hand.

Discreetness

In all honesty, it really does not look like a standard vaporizer. To me, it resembles a beard trimmer or a shaver of some kind. That is just what I think of when I look at the device. I don't think anyone would know it's a vaporizer unless you told them. It is small enough to slip in your pocket or purse and you can vape it in stealth mode.

Durability

The G Pen Elite is well-made and sturdy. It isn’t top-heavy so there is no worry of it tipping over or rolling off of smooth surfaces. There are no breakable parts to this device. Nothing to crack or chip if accidentally dropped.

Power

The battery life for the GPen is about 90 minutes to an hour of continuous vaping. Once the battery is completely drained it takes about 2 hours to be fully charged. It charges via USB cable and can be plugged into a laptop or wall charger. You will need to let it charge for about 3 hours when you first get it because it does not come pre-charged.

Vaping Experience

I was actually surprised at how to use this device is. It has a very simple one-button operation and the ceramic oven is one of the largest I have seen yet. It is very deep but you don’t have to pack it very tightly so it doesn’t have to be full to use by yourself.

To fill the chamber you first need to remove the mouthpiece as the oven sits underneath it. To remove it grip the mouthpiece and gently move it back and forth in a rocking motion until it is loose enough to pull it off. Place your ground herbs inside the chamber and lightly pack it with your finger or the included packing tool. It doesn't have to be packed tight in there just press it down and it's good.

It also uses the standard 5 clicks to turn it on and off like similar vaporizers. To start the heating process, you press and hold the power button for a minute and you’ll see the temperature changing in the LED lights on the side of the device. It takes about 30 seconds to reach the desired temperature and you can adjust the temperature up or down using the buttons located on the side of the device.

Cleaning the G Pen is also pretty easy. You just remove the mouthpiece again and dump out the contents of the oven. Using the included brush, sweep the inside and the outer edge of the oven chamber. You can wipe out the inside with a cotton swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol. Clean the mouthpiece with a cotton swab to remove any ground material from the screens.

It is one of the easiest devices I have ever used. There is literally nothing to it. Even a beginner can get great results the first time around. It produces a surprising amount of vapor in the higher temperature ranges. It has just the right amount of resistance in the draw. The first couple of draws you won’t see much vapor but it increases as it warms up. About the third or fourth draw, you should get a pretty decent cloud. I like to spend most of my session with low heat (375 to 380) but more flavor and then bum it up (400) at the end to finish it off with more vapor production and to ensure even vaporization of ground material.

I also like the fact that the mouthpiece does not get hot as you vape, despite the oven chamber being directly below your mouth. It stays cool and burning lips. The device itself doesn't even get that hot. It feels warm to the touch but that's as hot as it gets.

Always remember to carry your devices safely. Let the device cool down before putting in your pocket or purse. Click the button 5 times to turn it off before putting it away. A device that is turned off poses no danger because the battery cannot engage without the device being on.

What We Liked

+ Simple and easy to use
+ Decent battery life
+ Good vapor production
+ LED display
+ Pass-through charging

What We Didn't

- Not much battery life
- Does take a little longer to charge than others

Value

The G Pen Elite is priced at $149.95 and is worth every penny. It performs very well for a small device and puts out just as much vapor as the bigger units. The fact that it is so easy to use is another big plus. There are no complicated menus, no smartphone apps, just up/down buttons and a power button. Even beginners will be able to use this because there is no way to get it wrong.

Final Verdict

I recommend this vaporizer to anyone who prefers simple devices with very low maintenance requirements. Easy to use, easy to clean, and no fiddling with buttons. Just turn it on, heat it up and vape it. It is a good value for the money because it works so well and it’s portable so you can take it anywhere.

Pax 3 Portable Vaporizer Review

If you're looking for a vaporizer that is small and fits right in the palm of your hand, then the Pax 3 might be just what you need. Small and discrete, the Pax 3 from Pax Labs is a 2 in 1 vaporizer that heats up fast and works like a dream.

Pax 3 Vaporizer Testing and Performance

The Pax 3 portable vaporizer from Pax Labs is the latest technology in small, lightweight portable vaporizers. It is a 2 in 1 vaporizer that works with dry herb and concentrates. It uses conduction heating to deliver a smooth and tasty vape.

In terms of size, the Pax 3 is small enough to be completely concealed in the hand. It doesn’t look like other vaporizers either. You cannot tell what it is so you could leave it sitting on your nightstand or dresser and no one would guess what it is. It’s perfect for stealth vaping on the sly.

The Pax 3 come out in 2016 and was rated one of the best vaporizers on the market. Its predecessor, the Pax 2, was the original dry herb vaporizer but did not have the ability to use concentrates as the upgraded version does.

The device comes in two options. One is the device only for $199 or the full kit for $249. I suggest going for the full kit because you get so many extras with it as well as the ½ pack oven and concentrates lid that does not come with the device by itself.

It is also designed to be compatible with Bluetooth technology and has an app to let you customize your settings for better vaping enjoyment. Pairing the device with your smartphone is easy, just press the button at the top and shake the device until the petals light up blue letting you know it’s connected.

Some Similarities and Differences

How is it different from the from the Pax 2? It has upgraded technology, longer battery life, and new accessories - including the option for concentrates. You get about 8 - 10 sessions from the Pax 3 instead of 6 - 8 with the previous version. It also charges in 90 minutes compared to 120 minutes.

In every other way, they are exactly the same. They are exactly the same size and dimensions the difference is in the upgrades and customization options.

Build Quality and Design

The build quality of the Pax 3 is very good. It feels good in the hand and quite durable. Although it is lightweight, there’s a slight heaviness that tells you it is not made from cheap metal. The LED petals on the front indicate battery status and heat settings. With the device - only option, you have the choice of four basic colors. In the full kit version, you have eight available colors to choose from.

Companion App

The downloadable app lets you adjust the heat settings, change display colors, and even has a game you can play with it. On the Pax website, it says you get 60 customizable heat settings with the app but I didn’t go through all of them. I’m not really a gadget-type of girl, so this isn’t something I would use myself but others may find it quite useful. If you like gadgets you would probably love this feature. For me personally, I don’t need that many options.

Discreetness

As mentioned previously, this device is small and fits entirely in your hand. There is nothing to give it away as a vaporizer. If you had this sitting on your dresser it might appear to be some kind of beauty product or fragrance tube. It is totally discrete in appearance. It is very easy to stealth vape with this device by concealing most of it in your hand and using it with the flat mouthpiece.

Durability

The quality of the device makes it a durable piece of technology. I don’t see where it would have any breakable parts. The finish on it is smooth and I think, if dropped, it really wouldn’t show any damage at all. Even a scuff or two wouldn’t even be noticeable. I wouldn’t say that it is unbreakable but if it fell out of your pocket it wouldn’t be unusable.

Power

The battery life of the Pax 3 is an improvement over the earlier version. You get about 90 minutes on a full charge and it takes about the same length of time to charge the unit. You can set it down between draws and it goes into a hibernation mode to conserve battery power. You only need to pick it up and draw on it to restore it to the heat setting it was at and resume vaping. If you wait longer than two minutes between draws it may time out and you’ll need to restart it. Again, this is to save battery life.

Vaping Experience

I spent the past 10 days testing this device and have come to really enjoy it. I haven’t bought many of these vaporizers so I’m never sure what to expect from them. I did find this particular device to be pretty easy to use, even the first time.

In size comparison, it is slightly taller than my Davinci IQ. But it is not as wide and is easier to hold due to its rectangular shape. It feels very natural in your hand when you hold it.

I like the haptic feedback feature and the addition of the smaller oven. If you’re using this by yourself you may not want a full oven lid. That’s where the ½ pack comes in handy. It is also easy to switch between dry herb and concentrates simply by swapping out the inserts.

Because it uses conduction heating you do have to grind your herbs up pretty fine and pack the oven tightly to ensure even vaporization. When you empty the oven, all you should see is dry brown material. It should be completely vaporized. To keep down on smell be sure to clean it after each use using the included pipe cleaners and brush.

I played around with the companion app for a little while but I’m not really a gadget person so I didn’t really end up using it. I mainly started it out at a lower setting for flavor and increased it towards the end of a session for more vapor. You can manually switch the heat settings by pressing and holding the top button and watching the petals light up. One light is the lowest setting and all four is the highest.

What We Liked

+ Haptic feedback sensor
+ Works with Pax 2 accessories
+ Customizable Bluetooth App

What We Didn't

- Cannot use while charging (no pass-through)

Value

The Pax 3 vaporizer comes in two options; $199 for device only - $249 full kit. I do suggest spending a few extra dollars to get the full kit because if you purchase just the device you will be missing out on some of the accessories as well as the concentrates lid. It is only included in the full kit along with the herb grinder, filling aid, and extra screens.

Final Verdict

I really enjoy using the Pax 3 portable vaporizer and I would recommend it to any vapers looking for a non-combustible method of vaporizing herbs. As a vaporizer, it works really well and lives up to its reputation. It is a good value for the money and something you can use for years without needing to buy anything else.

Eleaf iStick 30W Box Mod Review

Eleaf vapor products are some of the best in the world. When it comes to small box mods for beginning vapers, the Eleaf iStick 30W is a perfect fit. It has all the features you could want in a compact vape device. Read on to find out more about it and if it might be right for you.

Eleaf iStick 30W Testing and Performance

The Eleaf line of vapor products includes the iStick mini, iStick 20W, iStick 30W, iStick 50, and 100W. They consistently produce high-quality tanks and mods and I have purchased several products from them in the past.

I bought the previous 20W version of the iStick and while I loved it, it had a few problems. I used it until it died and then I bought the 30W and thankfully those issues were fixed in this version.

It has a maximum output of 30W and is capable of using sub ohm atomizer coils to .04 ohms. You can use a number of tanks with this mod such as the Aspire Atlantis, Kanger Subtank, and Eleaf tanks like the GS Air, Lemo, and Melo.

Build Quality and Design

If you are familiar with the iStick 20W then you’ll see that the 30W is almost identical to it except for a few things. It is the same size and width but it has a slight lip on the front to accommodate larger tanks without overhang. When using a 22mm tank it sticks out on the 20W so they added a bit of an edge for it to sit on.

The buttons are exactly the same and it works very much the same way except that this one goes to 30W and is capable of using sub ohm tanks. You couldn’t use them on the 20W version.

Durability

The iStick 30W is durable and made of stainless steel. It has a little bit of weight to it but doesn’t feel heavy, just solid. There are no loose buttons or parts that rattle and all the threads are very smooth.

Ease of Use

This device is also very easy to use. The OLED screen display shows your battery status, your atomizer and how many volts or watts you’re using. It is really nice as a beginning mod and you can use above-ohm or sub ohm coils. I consider it to be a very safe device because you cannot use super low resistance coils so there is no danger of stressing the battery.

Ergonomics

Due to its small size and slim design, it fits perfectly in the hand and feels comfortable. This is ideal for those times when you want to stealth vape without drawing attention by blowing big clouds. It’s also the perfect size to fit right in your shirt pocket or purse for easy carrying.

Features and Functions

Some of the best features of this device are the ability to use sub ohm coils, use tanks up to 22mm, a long-lasting 2200mah battery, it has a 10-second auto-shut off, will not fire at below .04 ohms, and built-in user protections.

Another feature that I like is the ability to lock in your wattage settings. Sometimes when you grab your mod several times per day the wattage can go up or down without you realizing it and with this locking feature, it stays set until you unlock it to change it. This saves your atomizer coils from getting burned from the wattage being set to high.

Wattage and Power

This device has a set wattage of 30W and 2200 mah battery capacity. Depending on how you vape, the battery can last all day or more. If you use sub ohm coils though you will need to charge more often.

Battery Life

The integrated 2200mah battery lasts between 5 - 6 hours if you use it at or close to 30W. If you use a higher resistance coil and lower wattage it will last even longer.

I like to use 1.5 ohm coils at 12 - 15W and the battery lasts me all day. It takes about 2 ½ to 3 hours to charge completely.

You also have the ability to vape while charging (pass-through) so you never have to worry about having to wait on a battery to charge.

What We Liked

+ 4 color choices
+ Pass-through charging
+ Can lock your wattage settings
+ Included 510 to eGo adaptor

What We Didn't

- Charging port is on the bottom of the device

Value

I have seen this device advertised from $29.99 to $34.99 through various online retailers. This is an extremely affordable device for someone who is on a budget but needs something dependable. The Eleaf series is great for that because if you start out at 30W you can always upgrade later to the 50 or 100W as you get more vaping experience.

Final Verdict

If you want a small sized mod capable of 30W and able to use sub ohm coils then the iStick 30W is is an excellent choice. It is great for new vapers wanting to move up to a mod or even advanced vapers who just want a backup device to carry with them that is simple to use.

It is extremely affordable and the flexibility to use almost any tank you have on it is an added bonus. It works fantastic with above ohm coils in the 1.2 - 1.5 ohm range as well as sub ohm coils in the 05. - .07 range. I definitely recommend this device to vapers of any experience level who want an affordable device that performs as well as some of the bigger mods.

Innokin EZ Watt Beginner Box Mod Review

As new vapers start gaining more experience, they soon find that the vape pen or cig-a-like device they started with no longer satisfies like it did when they first bought it. It’s time to look at maybe getting a beginning vape mod like this one from vaping industry giant, Innokin. The Innokin EZ Watt is their latest box mod designed for new vapers ready to take that next step.

Innokin EZ Watt Testing and Performance

As the name implies the EZ Watt is designed to be easy for any vaper to use. And it is. It is easy to fill, change the coil, and set your wattage. This device is a step up from the vape pen for new vapers who want a little more power but don’t feel ready for “a mod” yet.

Many new vapers actually stick with vape pens because it is easier than trying to buy a new device which may or may not work for them. Using low resistance coils for direct lung hits takes some getting used to when you have been using mouth to lung draws for so long.

Build quality and Design

The build quality of the device itself is very good. The design is stylish and modern with a matching tank and colored o-rings. The tank is the Prism T20S tank and is protected by metal bands that go around it.

Two big windows let you monitor your juice levels and if it needs refilling just unscrew the top cap and drip into the large juice holes underneath.

It has a stylish look in matching colors and the colored LED lights on the power button tell you when your battery is getting low.

Durability

The device is constructed of stainless steel and glass and is very sturdy. The metal bands protect the tank from cracks and breaking, which is a good thing because if it breaks you have to buy a new tank. The metal covering and glass are all one piece and there is no spare included.

Ease of Use

The top-fill design makes filling the tank easy and changing out the coil is just as easy when the tank is empty. The coil heads sit in the base so all you do is unscrew the tank, turn it upside down, and pull it out. Replace the coil and screw the tank back down. That’s it and your ready to vape again.

The buttons on the front of the battery are the power button and the wattage settings. The settings are outlined on the bottom of the device in case you forget which ones are which. You click the bottom button through each setting indicated by “green” which is the lowest (13-14), medium which is “blue” (16 - 18), and the highest is “white” (30 - 35).

Ergonomics

The rounded corners and slim body make this feel very comfortable in the hand. It is fairly lightweight and is mostly concealed in the hand. I have small to medium-sized hands and it almost disappears in my hand, except for the tank sticking up.

It works for stealth vaping when you want to take a couple of quick draws without anyone knowing.  Meaning when you’re with friends and family who haven't quite accepted your new vaping lifestyle.

Features and functions

There are some pretty nice features for this device. It uses a similar style tank like some other Innokin products so it is familiar.

It has built-in user protections, comes with a spare .08 ohm coil, and is compatible with the Innokin Slipstream tank (purchased separately).

The mod itself can also be used with other tanks but will not fire below .02 ohms. The included 1.5-ohm coil head is perfect for a mouth to lung draw, while the .08 ohm coil is good for more airflow and slightly restricted direct lung draw.

Wattage and Power

The wattage is restricted to 35W no matter what tank you use. The integrated battery is 1500mah so depending on which coil you use, you may have to charge more or less often. The higher ohm coil will use less because it has more resistance and the same for the lower resistance coil, it will use more battery because it has less resistance. It also depends on your vaping frequency. It has a good power output for the device and 35W will power similar atomizers of the same ratings.

Battery Life

Since the battery is only 1500 mah, it will not last a long time if you vape a lot. If you vape frequently this might not be the mod for you, you might be better off getting something with larger battery capacity. But if you like how it vapes, it satisfies your need for nicotine, and you don’t mind having to charge more often then go for it. Whatever keeps you off cigarettes is the “right one”. It is all subjective to what works for you. Not all mods work for everybody.

What We Liked

+ Matching rubberized finish
+ It’s small and easy to carry
+ The maximum output is 35W
+ It is designed for new vapers

What We Didn't

- Airflow is not adjustable
- Can’t skip through settings
- Not compatible with T18 coils
- Can’t change coils while the tank is full

Value

- $29.95 to $31

I think Innokin has made a great product and I recommend it to new vapers and even old vapers who just want an easy to use device with a MTL draw. It’s easy to use and priced to fit any budget. It’s definitely a good value in my opinion. A complete setup for thirty dollars or less is a steal.

Final Verdict

The EZ Watt is the perfect vape mod for beginning vapers who want to take the next step up from a vape pen. The mod and tank look great together and it is a high-quality, well-made product. It vapes great as a Mouth-to-lung tank, which is something new vapers need, and it comes at an affordable price.
