Clearomizers Cartomizers and Tanks

You have probably heard these terms before and wondered, “What the heck are Clearomizers, Cartomizers, and Tanks?"

Well, today you’re going to get a lesson in vaping history about the very earliest of vaping atomizers, the clearos and cartos. Experienced vapers are familiar with these because many of them started out with these atomizers on stick batteries before moving onto more advanced vape gear.

The examples below were the options available to vapers in the very beginning of vaping popularity. The options increased over time to what we have now, but some older vapers still use some of these options because they are affordable and the devices are simple to use.

Let’s Start from the Beginning

In the beginning, there were cartomizers. These early atomizers were cylindrical tubes that encased the coil and wicking material and often came in stainless steel or a colored finish. There are actually two styles of cartomizers, which we will get into as well.

The first type of cartomizer is a short tube filled with a single coil and wicking material rolled up inside. This piece screws into the 510 connection on a stick battery and maybe a yellow color to simulate the familiar “cigarette butt” or maybe a variety of different colors depending on the manufacturer of the device. For example, Halo G6 cartomizers come in white, black, purple, green, burgundy and so on. The stick battery colors are the same as well for customization. These come “pre-filled” with Halo e-juice or as “blanks” you can fill with your own e-liquid.

These cartomizers are usually a standard resistance of 2.4 - 3.0 for older devices that are not for sub-ohm use. These include stick batteries, eGo-style batteries, and any device that works with variable voltage/wattage (twist batteries) in the range of 1 - 12W.

These are great for use in an emergency when you accidentally break a tank and have no access to a replacement right away. Just pop one onto your eGo twist and set the voltage between 3.8 and 4.2 and you’re good to go.

These also come in single or dual coil options. The single coil cartos are in the resistance range of 1.5 to 3.0 ohms. The single coil produces a cooler vape with less throat hit, while the dual coil produces more vapor and throat hit and is meant for devices with variable voltage/variable wattage.

The Second Type of Cartomizer: The Carto Tank Cartomizer

These are pretty much the same type of atomizer, the difference is that they are made to go inside of a cartomizer tank. They have a flat, flanged bottom and pre-drilled holes on the side for wicking juice from the tank. These cannot be used in place of the other cartomizers and vice versa.

Carto tanks are a glass tank with a top and bottom that is hollow in the center (which is where the cartomizer goes) the atomizer soaks e-liquid in through the holes ( or slots) in the sides of the tube. These are older style tanks and not used much anymore. They were prone to flooding and gurgling because there was no way to adjust the juice feed to keep too much juice from getting in at a time. They were also very messy to fill because the metal tube had to be pulled down from the center to allow for refilling which often resulted in juice leaking from the bottom of the tank.

Pluses and Minuses

Both of these types of cartomizers have their good points and their bad points. Their good points are that they are versatile, easy to find from known vendors and some online retailers, blanks can be filled with your own e-liquid flavors, and will last a week or two as long as you prime them before use and don’t let them go dry.

The bad points of these are that they only hold 1 -2 mils of juice, you cannot tell how much liquid is in the tank, can get gunky pretty fast, and sometimes you will get the flavor of the polyfill wicking for the first few uses. You can clean them but it is a pain, so just buy a box of 5 and discard them as needed.

The Next Evolutionary Step: The Clearomizer

The clearomizer was the next step up when moving from stick batteries to eGo-style batteries. Clearomizers are plastic tanks with an atomizer (heating coil) and wicks. You would fill them by removing the drip tip and dripping juice down the sides of the tube. The plastic tanks were more attractive and came in a variety of colors to match your device battery. The only drawback to some of these is that citrus and acidic juices like pineapple and cinnamon would cause them to crack. Also, too much pressure when opening or closing could also cause the tank to crack at the bottom where it screws onto the battery.

Disposable and Replaceable Coil Clearos

The very basic clearomizers which are the CE4 style are disposable and meant to be thrown away when the heating coil burns out or the tank cracks. These are priced around $1 or so and are easily replaced by a variety of retailers. Can also be purchased in packs of 5.

The clearos with replaceable coils are the eGo CE4+, CE5, and H2. They hold 1.6 mils of e-liquid and come with a tiny coil head that can be removed and replaced as needed. They are also compatible with all types of eGo batteries. The tank is easy to clean and can be used over and over until it needs replacing. This is a very affordable way to vape when you have a small budget. These also come in either plastic or glass and are priced between $2 - $3 each.

Moving On to Tanks: The Glassomizer

The earliest tanks besides carto tanks and before sub-ohm tanks were the glassomizer tanks. These tanks had a standard 510 connection and could be used on eGo batteries and some low wattage mods. These tanks often had long wicks like the Vivi Nova that sat on top or were at the bottom of the atomizer tube. The ones with the coils at the bottom tend to last longer and don’t get burnt as often as the ones with the coils and wicks at the top.

The glassomizers hold 1.5 mils of e-liquid, are made from Pyrex glass, and come apart for easy cleaning. Examples of glassomizers are: Aspire K1&K2, Aspire BVC Vivi Nova, Any Vape Davide BDC Mini, and Aspire Triton Mini.

That Brings Us Up to Current Day

Our options as vapers are more varied and equipment has improved over time. Tank options now include modern vape tanks, sub-ohm tanks, rebuildable tanks, and rebuildable dripping atomizers. The previous options are still available for those who want to try them out and work their way up to more advanced gear slowly. The License to Vape guides are designed to help new people understand what vaping is, the terminology and even help experienced vapers find reviews on some of the more advanced gear.

Uwell Valyrian Sub-ohm Tank Review

Sub Ohm Uwell Valyrian Tank Review

The Uwell Valyrian is a sub-ohm tank very similar to the TFV8 Baby Beast. In fact, it looks very much like it and performs just as well.

I wasn't really too impressed with previous Uwell tanks like the Crown and Crown 3, but the Valyrian is a horse of a different color altogether. It has a nice big juice tank ( 5 mils, can be upgraded to 8 with a replacement tank sold separately) for all day vaping which I really like. Plus, I am a fan of top-fill tanks which this is also.

It has a flip-top fill design that allows you to open it with one hand and avoid accidentally unscrewing the glass from the base, which happens with other tanks when trying to refill. It is so easy to fill, just flip the top open and squeeze the bottle nozzle down one of the two juice openings and that is it. Snap it closed and you're ready to vape. It doesn't get any easier than that.

Uwell Valyrian Tank Testing and Performance

I got this tank over the weekend and couldn't wait to give it a test drive. I spent about a week getting familiar with it and several hours of testing and reviewing the features and quality of the tank itself. Below are the highlights of my experiences with it.

A few things about the Valyrian that you should know if you're planning on buying one is that it has really good airflow. There are 3 airflow holes that are adjustable. You can open it all the way or close it down halfway for a more restricted, more flavorful vape. The tank comes with what the manufacturer calls "airflow pins" to allow you to customize your vaping experience with this tank. 3 pins are included: 1 x wave pin, 1 x spiral pin, and 1 x unrestricted pin. At first, these pins were thought to improve the flavor, but what they actually do is change and modify the airflow coming into the coil head. They do not affect the flavor at all, but if you want more flavor simply close down the airflow a little until you find the sweet spot. Here are a few specification and features of the tank:

Build Quality and Design

This tank boasts a unique design perk: Airflow Pins. The included airflow pins change the airflow in the coil head to improve the vapor production. It was originally advertised as for "improving flavor and vapor production" but I didn't notice any real change in the flavor. It was good but did not drastically change. What did change slightly was the airflow, it was smoother and created more vapor. Another feature for this tank is a fill-line measurement on the coil head. It is a visual reminder not to vape the tank below this line to avoid dry hits and burning the cotton wicking of the coil.

Durability/Reliability

Constructed out of stainless steel, the tank section is resistant to scratches and nicks, even when dropped from a table. I used it over a period of five days and a couple of times it was knocked over and rolled off onto the floor. The Pyrex glass tank resists cracking from acidic juices. I tried a citrus blend in it and it had no problems whatsoever. It is a well-made tank.

Ease of Use

The tank is really easy to use. Just fill it with e-liquid, attach it to your mod, and vape. That is all there is to it. Coil changes and cleaning are easy as well.

Vaping Experience

I really enjoy using this tank. In fact, it is one of the few I have that I will use. I have had issues with tanks leaking in the past and gave up using them. But this one changed my mind and I keep it in my collection for times when I will be away from home and don't want to be bothered with dripping.

Filling

The flip-top design of the cap makes it really easy to refill the tank. No more twisting or unscrewing the top to fill. It can actually be done with one hand. There is a little button on the front of the cap that you press and it flips right up. Fill it with juice and snap it closed. Because of this design, there is no possibility of unscrewing your tank and juice leaking out.

Leaking

The tank holds 5 mils of e-liquid as it is but can be upgraded to 8 mils with the replacement tank. It sells separately for $4.95. The two juice fill holes are wide enough for large bottle tips to fit for easy filling. The is tank had been great and I have had no issues with it leaking or flooding.

Cloud

The vapor production on this tank is phenomenal. The airflow is smooth and produces plumes of vapor. This is a good tank for cloud chasers because it chucks them. The vapor production on this tank is slightly better than the clouds produced by the TFV8 Baby Beast, the slightly smaller version of the big Cloud Beast.

Flavor

I did find that although the pins didn't directly affect the flavor, the improved airflow in combination with adjusting the airflow control allows the flavor to be customized to where you want it.  For more flavor close down the airflow holes, and for more vapor open them all the way.

Value

This tank is currently priced at between $25 and $30 dollars. This is a good price for a quality sub-ohm tank.

What We Liked

Unique airflow pins
Flip-top cap for easy filling
Fill line imprinted on the coil as a visual reminder
0.15-ohm dual coil heads rated for 95 -120 watts
4 Juice slots in the coil improve saturation and eliminate dry hits
Insulated drip tip doesn’t absorb heat
Hold 5 mils of e-liquid (8 mil tank sold separately)

What We Didn't

No variety of coil heads
Vaping at high wattages will consume juice quickly
No O-ring on the drip tip
No RBA section

Final Verdict

If you are looking for a well-made tank with good airflow and great vapor production, this is it. And priced at less than $30, it's a real budget-pleaser as well. It's easy on the wallet if you need to replace an old, outdated tank and don't want to spend a lot of money. It's a great tank for the money and you'll love how well it performs.

Vaping Myths

The Myths of Vaping Debunked and What You Need to Know!

In order to educate new vapers and would-be vapers in the community, the first order of business should be to debunk some of the popular “vaping myths” floating around on the Internet. These are the ones people bring up when they hear that you are planning to start vaping or have already done so. It is their way of warning you, most likely out of concern, but they have been misinformed and it is important that we give people the most up-to-date, factual information possible to help them be successful at quitting cigarettes and vaping safely.

“E-liquid contains antifreeze”

Propylene Glycol is one ingredient used in e-liquids that is also used in manufacturing antifreeze. PG itself contains no anti-freeze and is non-toxic. Because it used in making anti-freeze people mistakenly believe that it is in the e-liquid. E-liquid contains 4 main ingredients: vegetable glycerin, propylene glycol, liquid nicotine, and flavoring. Some commercially-made e-liquids may contain a few other ingredients such as coloring and diacetyl, but for the most part, it has been discontinued from use in e-liquids.

“E-liquid contains formaldehyde”

This is another mistaken conclusion. It comes from a study on indoor air quality from vaping published in the New England Journal of Medicine. The reason for the confusion was that traces of “aldehydes” (which formaldehyde is a type of) were noted but in minuscule amounts. These “aldehydes” were produced by turning up the wattage levels on the devices and “dry” burning the coils. The test results were obtained using methods that would not normally occur during vaping and are not accurate. Nobody vapes with dry cotton at extremely high wattage levels.

“E-cigarettes can explode”

Correction: E-cig batteries (any batteries for that matter) can explode. This is the reason for all those news stories about “exploding vape pens”. If you read those stories to the end, you’ll see that it was the battery that exploded and not the device. The device does not have the ability to explode without the battery. And most often it is not vape pens but mods, specifically mechanical mods, that are the culprit.

“E-cigs are a gateway to smoking for teenagers”

This is the reason for the current “flavor ban” initiative proposed by anti-vaping groups. They say sweet flavors appeal to kids, well it appeals to adults as well. Sweet flavors aren't going to entice kids or teens to start vaping and then to smoking. Current studies being done on college students suggest that teen smoking rates are going down. That is also what’s happening in the UK as well, their teen smoking rates are declining. There is not much evidence to suggest that vaping is a gateway, in my opinion.

“Vaping is just as harmful as cigarettes”

There are over 4,000 chemicals in cigarette smoke, including carbon monoxide, ammonia and arsenic. Tar and nicotine are two compounds that most everyone recognizes but they are not nearly as bad as the others. Nicotine, by itself, is a stimulant much like coffee. Without the tar and other chemicals, vaping nicotine e-liquid is a better alternative to smoking because it’s cleaner and you’re avoiding those 4,000 chemicals and carcinogens. Studies done by Public Health England have concluded that “E-cigarettes are 95% safer than smoked tobacco and they can help smokers quit”.

“Vaping does not help people quit smoking”

The UK has some pretty astounding figures on this one. According to Public Health England, an astonishing 29 million adults use e-cigarettes. Out of those 29 million, 15 million have completely stopped using tobacco. It is so successful that some British countries are using them in their efforts to get people off cigarettes. Many people who now vape say that they were heavy smokers and quit the day they bought their first electronic cigarette. This isn’t always the case, but it is true for a lot of vapers.

“Vaping causes popcorn lung”

This myth was created in reference to a group of factory workers who were exposed to the chemical compound “diacetyl” over a long period of time. Diacetyl is what gives popcorn it’s buttery flavor and mimics a custardy flavor in e-liquid. However, the factory workers were exposed to tons of the stuff every day over several years while vapers may get a small, minuscule amount in e-liquid every now and then. Most e-liquid manufacturers have stopped using it.

“Vaping is more addictive than smoking”

Some people may think that vaping is more addictive than smoking due to the flavors offered and higher amounts of nicotine than in traditional cigarettes. The truth is that nicotine liquid has about the same amount of nicotine as a tobacco cigarette, minus the tar and other nasty stuff. However, when you quit smoking you’ll find that your body processes nicotine differently. It takes a little longer for nicotine to get into your system through vaping. And you may still get cravings for a cigarette but they are not as strong as they are without vaping and if you adjust your nicotine level it makes it much easier to get through this phase. Believe me, it is harder to quit smoking than it is to quit vaping.

Both cigarettes and vapor products contain nicotine, but what’s missing from vapor products (those 4,000 chemicals) are part of what makes smoking so addictive. Without those chemicals, vapers who previously smoked 2 packs per day can vape 6mg of nicotine and take a 3-hour plane ride without needing to vape between flights.

After you have been vaping a while it is not uncommon to still feel those little urges for a cigarette now and then but they are not as strong without all the chemical additives from cigarettes, and they get a lot easier to ignore over time. Check out the different guides License to Vape has to offer and how we are educating people on vaping as a whole and vaping products.

The JUUL Pod System Review

juul-pod-systems-vape-pen-kit-review

For someone wanting to quit traditional cigarettes, the thought of finding an alternative can be frustrating and time-consuming. There are so many products out on the market that claim to be similar to tobacco cigarettes but often are not even close, except in appearance. One product that does not look like a cigarette but has a similar draw and produces a good amount of vapor is the JUUL Pod System, one of our favorites, if not the favorite vape pen.

The JUUL Pod System Testing and Performance

The JUUL is the latest e-cigarette manufactured by Pax Labs. It looks nothing like a cigarette but is about the same size only rectangular and flat. The draw on it is very similar to that of a tobacco cigarette and the vapor production is very good. In terms of similarities, it performs much like a cigarette and the nicotine level of the pods is also similar to tobacco products making it the best product for people wanting to switch.

Because of the similarities, it is very easy to transition over to vaping without the usual discomforts of nicotine withdrawal. The nicotine content of the pods is 5% by weight or 50mg per pod. It can be a little strong for some vapers but new vapers just quitting smoking need higher amounts of nicotine in the beginning. For my review, I gave this device some hands-on testing and my results are listed below to help you decide if the JUUL is right for you.

Build Quality and Design

The JUUL device is similar in size to a traditional tobacco cigarette and rectangle-shaped. It is flat so it will lay on your desk or table without any worry of it rolling off like other cig-a-like devices do.  The pods are magnetic and snap in quickly for e-liquid refilling.  The build quality of the device is good for what it is, and it is easy to carry because it is small and compact.

Durability/Reliability

The Juul Pod has a built-in 200 mah battery. Battery life is, of course, limited to how often it is used. During my testing, I found that mine only lasted about 3 hours because I tend to vape a lot. For someone used to smoking a pack per day or more, it will be necessary to charge twice a day. A good idea is to purchase an extra battery and use one while charging the other. I had no problems with it not working at any time.

Ease of Use

Charging and using the device is really easy.  Charging the battery takes about 50 minutes to an hour. The charging piece is magnetic and plugs into your laptop for easy charging. The battery indicator light will be white while charging and turn green when finished. To test the remaining battery life, tap twice on the front and the “green” light means charged, “yellow” means needing charging soon and “red” means charge now. A pretty easy system to figure out.

To use the device, choose your desired flavor of e-liquid pod from the package and remove the colored tab. Place the pod in the top of the device. It is magnetic and snaps in. There is no button so all you do is put it to your lips and inhale slowly and exhale vapor. That is it.

Vaping Experience

The nicotine in the JUUL pods is from nicotine salts found in the leaves of the tobacco plant. This is what gives it that strong “throat hit”. The level of nicotine in each pod is 5% by weight or about 50 mg of tobacco for each pod. Because a lot of advanced vapers like the JUUL for taking to work and vaping on the go, the nicotine level may be a little too strong for vapers who vape 12mg or less. But it is perfect for someone just getting off of cigarettes.

Filling

The capacity of the e-liquid pods is 0.7 mils. If you’re a light vaper one pod might last you all day. I went through one pod in about 6 hours of heavy vaping. Extra pods can be purchased separately in packs of 4.The pods don’t hold a lot of e-liquid for someone who vapes a lot, but it is more than adequate for a new vaper.

Leaking

The JUUL is a closed pod system and the pods are "leak proof" by design.  I had no leaking issues whatsoever with any of the pods.

Cloud

The vapor production on this device is very good, despite its small size. The amount of vapor produced by the device is actually better than a tobacco cigarette. The device produces a good amount of vapor, not big clouds, but a good amount. You feel very much like you are smoking a cigarette when vaping with this device. Above average vapor production from a device without a "tank".

Flavor

The flavor of the e-liquid pods are good, but not great. Just not as good as some of the e-liquid flavors I have tasted. The Virginia Tobacco and the Mint were my two favorites ( I like tobacco and menthol flavors). The Fruit Medley and Creme Brulee were okay, just not to my liking. Remember taste is subjective and everyone has their own preferences. What one person likes another might not and vice versa. I am hoping that in time there will be more flavors and better tasting.

What We Liked

The pods are leak proof
Simple charging
Automatic battery (no buttons)

Fast charging
High nicotine level (5%)
Automatic temperature control
Above average vapor production (for a small device)

What We Didn't

Pods are not refillable
Only one nicotine level
$16 is pricey for the refill pods ($4 per pod)
Nicotine level may too strong for some vapers

Value

The current price for the starter kit is $49.99 at most online retailers. It is not necessarily a bad price for the technology of the device but I would have like to see two batteries so you can use one while the other is charging since you cannot vape it while charging. But then again, it charges very quickly so that is not necessarily a con.

Final Verdict

The JUUL is good for all types of vapers, but it is best suited for people just coming off tobacco cigarettes because it was designed specifically for them. The mouth-to-lung draw and vapor production closely mimic that of a tobacco cigarette which is what makes it so easy for people who smoked to make the switch effortlessly. The only real drawback to the device is the cost for a single battery system and the refill pods, but for the right vaper, he or she may not be swayed by the cost due to how well it performs.

Joyetech Exceed D19 Review

joyetech-exceed-D19-vape-mod-kit

The Joyetech eGo AIO used to be the favorite device of many first-time vapers because of its simplicity and ease of use. It was perfect as a beginner device because there were no parts to remove and cleaning was easy. Joyetech has since improved on this design with the Exceed D19. It is simple and easy to use but can also be used with other tanks for versatility.

Joyetech Exceed D19 Testing and Performance

I was very pleased with the overall performance of this device. Despite it being designed for beginners, it works pretty well for experienced vapers who want something to take on the go or as a secondary device. I spent 5 days using it and charging it and I can say that it is consistently a good vape. Personally, I think it surpasses the AIO in terms of performance and cloud production.

Build quality and design

The Joyetech Exceed D19 measures 118mm tall and 19mm in diameter. It is a sturdy device and feels solid in the hand. The tank section is removable and the kit includes a replacement tank just in case something happens and it breaks. It is also able to be used with other atomizers with a 510 connection.

The design is sleek and smooth, it looks and performs like an advanced tube pen. I just wish that they would eventually add more colors. It currently comes in black/white (which is what I have), black, white, stainless steel, and burnt orange. I would like to see a larger range of colors in the future.

Durability/Reliability

This device is constructed from stainless steel and is very durable. I am somewhat clumsy and have a habit of knocking things over. I have knocked it over twice and so far it has suffered no effects of wear and tear. No dings, no scratches and I’m glad they include the replacement glass. I do like to use vape bands on my tanks for added protection as well.

Ease of Use

This device is very easy to use and has a simple, 1-button functionality. There are no menus, no screens, and no complications. Just on/off and switching between direct output and direct voltage battery modes. I don’t know why there are two modes for this. I couldn’t really tell the difference between the two modes so I just left it in direct output.

Vaping Experience

I really like the mouth-to-lung style option. It’s nice to have the choice of either mode to use. I feel that this setup would work well for new vapers due to the similarities in draw and ease of operation. The .05 ohm coil works well for direct lung hits but advanced vapers may not be satisfied with the wattage output. The coil (.05) is rated for 35W maximum so if you want great big clouds and warm to hot vapor, this will not work for you. When it comes to finding some of the best vape pens, it is all about the overall vaping experience the end user receives from using the product.

Filling

The tank is a top-fill tank with a 2 mil juice capacity. The top cap unscrews revealing the two open juice slots. These are wide enough for most e-liquid bottle tips to fit in. Simply point the bottle tip down inside the fill port and squeeze to fill the tank. Leave a small gap at the top to reduce the possibility of flooding or gurgling. The mouthpiece and top cap are all one piece so you cannot use your own drip tips with it.

One thing I discovered while refilling is that you need to hold onto the top ring with one hand and turn the cap with the other, otherwise the whole cap tends to come off including the top of the chimney. It doesn’t have any type of knurling to grip it with and it tends to unscrew the tank at times too.

Leaking

I had no issues with leaking with this tank but I did experience a little gurgling after refills. It is not excessive and goes away after the first one or two hits. It is a minor issue that goes away quickly so I don’t see it as a con.

Cloud

This tank has great cloud production for a beginner device. The vapor produced by the mouth-to-lung coil is good with the restricted airflow, and then when you switch it over to the .05 ohm coil and open the airflow the clouds get even bigger. Cloud production on this device is better than the Joyetech AIO and I think it’s a better device overall because the AIO didn’t have the capability for direct lung hits.

Flavor

The flavor is also very good with this tank. Most likely due to the atomizer coils and the airflow for both MTL and DTL draws. The inner diameter of the 1.2-ohm coil is very small and restricted for more concentrated flavor, and the .05 coil is big for more vapor production due to increased airflow. The increased airflow helps cloud production while the restricted airflow increases the flavor.

What We Liked

Affordably priced
Well-performing device
Designed for both mouth-to-lung and direct-to-lung vaping
The battery indicator light tells when the battery is getting low

What We Didn't

Whole top unscrews sometimes when opening for refilling
Two modes for battery output (couldn’t tell any difference)
Delrin mouthpiece is not removable (can’t use other drip tips)

Value

The price for this in the starter kit is right around $20 at most online retailers. It is a very good price for such a well-performing, compact device.

Final Verdict

I really like the performance of the Joyetech Exceed D19. The mouth-to-lung draw is good and with the 1.2-ohm coil, you can use higher nicotine e-liquid. I used it with 12 mg nicotine in a 50PG/50VG blend and it worked really well. I think it would be a great gift for someone who wants to get off cigarettes and needs something simple and uncomplicated.

Celebrate National Vaping Day

Balloons_Decoration_PNG_Clipart_Image

We would like to invite you to a celebration. There won’t be any balloons or cake because this is not a birthday. It is a celebration of our right to be smoke-free and to have access to life-saving vapor products. August 8th is National Vaping Day and it is the 2-year anniversary of the day the FDA deeming regulations on vapor products came into effect.

Why is August 8th So Important?

In April of 2014, the FDA proposed its deeming regulations to classify e-cigarettes and vapor products as tobacco products, thereby giving them control over regulating them. Their proposal would be in effect in August if it was approved. The regulations proposed would require permits and lengthy studies of every new product coming into the marketplace and would eliminate nearly every product being sold in vape shops currently.

August 8th is an important date because it calls for advocacy to keep vapor products available to adult vapers and free from burdensome regulations for manufacturers and vendors.

Congress can repeal these regulations if enough of us will make our voices heard. Vapers are voters too and your representatives need reminding of that. They represent the people so let them know how you feel about this issue.

It’s Party Time

So, how do you celebrate National Vaping Day?. On August 8th we are asking everyone to take to their social media channels and tell their story of how vaping changed their lives. You may think that one person can’t make a difference but you are not alone here.

There are multitudes of vapers just like you all around the country and if we all share our success stories in quitting cigarettes there is hope these regulations will be abolished.

The reason that this is an effective method is that as a vaping industry we cannot say certain things or make any type of health claims because this too is regulated by the FDA. We are not allowed to say that vaping is healthier and safer than smoking. But as consumers who have given up cigarettes by using vapor products you can say that you feel healthier, breathe easier, and have had success in staying smoke-free due to the availability of vapor devices.

We ask that when you share your story on social media that you include the hashtags #NationalVapingDay and #VapeWildFights on your Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites.

How Can You Join the Fight?

  • Tell your story on social media, write your congressman
  • Make a donation to help fund advocacy

Vape Wild, a vape shop and manufacturer based out of Dallas TX, is committed to vaping and helping to change the perception of the vaping industry. Read the vape wild review here.

They are showing their support by donating 20% of all e-liquid sales to the Vapor Technology Association (VTA) to fund vaping advocacy and raise awareness of the deeming regulations and what they mean for vapers and the industry itself.

You can make a purchase on their website or if you like you can make a donation to the VTA. Both options will be available on their website on August 8th.

The FDA has postponed these regulations until 2022 but they have also said that there are more regulations to come. The VTA had a hand in convincing the FDA to delay the regulations and hear from vapers directly how these changes would affect them. This is why we are encouraging vapers to tell their story, share their successes, and let the FDA know that vapor devices help people quit cigarettes which in turn saves lives. And we need these products to stay on the shelves and be accessible to adults vapers. Eleaf iStick Pico Baby 25 Review

eleaf_istick_pico_baby-25

If you want to step up from a vape pen but don't feel ready for a big mod yet, the Eleaf iStick Pico Baby 25 might be just what you need to experience sub-ohm vaping in a smaller dose. The Pico Baby is classified as a mini box mod and is regulated to 25 Watts maximum output. The Eleaf GS Baby Sub-Ohm Tank that comes with has 2 coil heads rated at .75 ohms and with the bottom airflow control can be vaped mouth-to lung (using the smaller holes) or direct-to-lung with the wider air slot fully open. This little mod is perfect for beginners who want to upgrade from their pen-style devices but don't want anything too big. Due to its small size, it fits comfortably in the hand and is easily carried in a pocket or purse for stealth vaping.

Eleaf iStick Pico Baby 25 Testing and Performance

There is one thing that I really like about this mini box mod. Some people may not like it, but personally, I like the locking ring over the firing button. It is very similar to the locking ring on a mechanical mod. It twists up to the "on" position, or ready to fire. When not in use, simply twist the locking ring back down and it is ready to be put in your pocket and cannot be fired until the ring is raised again. It's a safety feature that I like because that means it can never fire accidentally and there is no chance of injury. It can be safely carried in your pocket with no worries. This is the first time I have seen this particular feature in a regulated mini-mod.

I was so intrigued by this feature that I had to put it to the test. I twisted the locking ring down and then tried to press it. The button is stiff and will not go down no matter how many times I tried.

Build Quality and Design

The design is simple and I like the magnetic adapter for the tank. It drops right in and will not fall out. The magnets are strong and hold the tank firmly in place. The locking ring might be a "con" for some, but I didn't find it to be for me. It does seem a bit odd for the firing button to be on top of the mod with the locking ring, in mechanical mods it is on the bottom. It's not a bad design it is just different. It takes a little getting used to when you are normally accustomed to a smaller firing button on the top or side of the mod.

Durability

I took this little mod with me on a 3-day trip to the lake and had a great time with it. It is very durable and lightweight so I was able to just tuck it in my pocket while walking. I accidentally dropped it once while unpacking but it survived and there were no scratches or dings anywhere.

Ease of Use

The wattage is regulated by the .75 ohm coil head automatically so there is no adjusting or figuring out where to set the wattage. It is just a "vape and go" device. One-button functionality makes it extremely easy to use. The internal battery charges via the micro USB port and can be vaped while charging.

Ergonomics

The compact size of this mod makes it great for stealth vaping because it is small enough to almost completely disappear in your hand. The tank sits recessed inside the mod, unlike others where the tank attaches to the top. The little window slot lets you see how much liquid is in your tank so you know when it needs refilling without having to pull it out to look.

Features and Functions

The features of this mod include the locking ring, integrated 1050 mAh High-Efficiency battery, and Magnetic 510 Adapter. The tank has a bottom-fill design and must be removed from the slot to fill. The magnetic adapter twists off to reveal a "hidden" 510 pin which means that this tank can be used on other mods by removing the adapter. Unscrew the adapter and the bottom section of the tank to change the coil head or fill the tank. Replace both pieces and the tank slides neatly back into the slot and is ready to use.

Value

The price for this mod kit is between $32 and $34 dollars at most online retailers. I personally think it is a great price for a secondary or backup device as well as an extra tank that can be used on other mods. The versatility is a big plus.

Wattage and Power

The device is set to 25 watts and cannot be raised. The wattage is determined by the power of the battery and the coil head.

Battery Life

The battery life of the device is probably good for most average vapers, I tend to vape a lot and therefore needed to charge it more frequently. The 1050 mah battery charges in about 3 hours and lasts about the same amount of time, for me. It depends on your usage and how frequently you vape it.

What We Liked

+ Good build quality, compact design
+ 1-button function
+ Good flavor and vapor
+Locking ring for the fire button
+Magnetic 510 connection

What We Didn't

- Bottom-fill tank
- The tank must be removed to fill and change airflow

Final Verdict

This is a nice little mod for someone just getting started vaping that wants a little more power and more vapor production. For more advanced vapers it would work well as a backup device or something to take with you for running errands. Although the tank uses GS Air coils and is capable of being used on other mods, the wattage for this device is set at 25 and that is perfect for beginners but experienced vapers may want something with higher wattage for an all-day vape.
