Smok Stick X8 Review

smok-stick-X8-vape pen

Smok is a well-known name in the vape product industry. A large number of vape pens on the market today carry their name and this is most likely the reason for the increased demand for high-quality pen-style devices.

The Smok Stick X8 is a simple, easy to use device that has a built-in 3000 mah battery and comes with the TFV8 X-Baby Beast tank. It is perfect for someone who wants huge clouds without the need for a high-powered device.

Smok Stick X8 Testing and Performance

After using this device for a week I was convinced that this was a great device to give to my relatives who still smoke. In terms of performance, the SMOK Stick X8 is one of the easiest to use devices. It has just 1 button and no complicated menus. The battery takes about 4 hours to fully charge and will last the average vaper all day. I had to charge mine twice per day because I am a heavy vaper. It delivers amazing clouds and flavor at an affordable price.

Build Quality and Design

The Smok Stick X8 is sleek and stylish and closely resembles the V8 model. The design and functions are almost the same, except that the X8 comes with the X-Baby Beast Brother tank with the improved M2 coil design that produces clouds upon clouds of vapor.

Durability/Reliability

The body, or battery section, is constructed out of stainless steel and is durable. In the few days I have been using it, it has rolled off my desk at least twice and thankfully shows no signs of damage. I prefer to use tank bands (there is one included in the kit) for added protection. Which is a good thing because the kit does not include a spare glass tank.

Ease of Use

This device is super simple to use. There is just one button for on and off. That is it. This device is perfect for beginners who want big clouds from a small device. It is compact and fits right in your pocket or purse for the commute to work.

Vaping Experience

With so many versions of the Baby Beast tank out you may be wondering how the X-Baby Beast is different from the regular Baby Beast tank.

In the X-Baby Beast, the adjustable airflow is strategically placed at the top instead of at the bottom so there are no issues with leaking from the air holes. Also, the increased airflow and design of the atomizer coil improves vapor production. This baby makes bigger clouds.

Filling

This tank is a top-fill design. You press down on the top and it swings out to reveal the juice slot. Fill the tank with juice and close. Very easy to fill and the tank comes apart for easy cleaning as well.

Leaking

I usually prefer RDAs over tanks because I hate leaky tanks, but I had absolutely no issues with leaking in this one.

Cloud

Cloud production in this tank is really good. It performs really well for a device that only puts out about 50 Watts. The vapor is thick, dense, and flavorful.

Flavor

The flavor produced is very good as well. I filled the vape pen tank with my favorite e-liquid and I could taste each element in the juice and it was delicious. All of the flavors come through.

Value

This device is priced at around $30 dollars for the starter kit which in my opinion is a really good deal. It is priced so well that you could pick up one for yourself and one for a friend or co-worker who wants to quit cigarettes.

What We Liked

+ Compact size, fits nicely in the hand
+ 1-button function
+ Tank produces good flavor and vapor
+3000 mah battery

What We Didn't

- Cannot determine wattage setting
- Does not come with a spare tank
-4 mil tank hard to find in EU countries

Final Verdict

The SMOK Stick X8 is one of the easiest to use vape pens on the market and is affordably priced to suit any budget. It has a powerful, long-lasting battery and sub-ohm coils that produce clouds of flavorful vapor.

SMOK Stick Prince with TFV12 Prince Review

smok-stick-prince-tfv12-prince-tank-kit-black

When you think of vape pens, you picture a small pen-size device with a tiny glass tank that holds 1.6 mils of e-liquid. Well, not this one. This one is from Smok and includes the TFV12 Prince tank. It combines the ease of a pen with a powerful sub-ohm tank that produces clouds of vapor. Here is a little more information about this device.

SMOK Stick Prince Testing and Performance

When testing out a new device I like to give it at least a few days to a week to accurately review it. It may act differently the second or third day than it did the first, so I don’t want to rush it. I spent about 30 hours overall testing and charging this device to see how well it performs. It is a relatively simple device that is easy to use and charges pretty quickly. Below are some features of the device and how it performs.

Build Quality and Design

Smok is a quality manufacturer of vape products, and as usual, the build quality of the device is good. It is a very simple device with 1-button functionality. It uses the standard 5 clicks on/5 clicks off, and the LED lights around the power button flash when the battery is getting low or you reach the 8-second cutoff. When you hold the power button longer than 8 seconds while vaping it will flash and then turn off. This is part of the built-in protections. You also cannot use coils lower than .01. If you try to use a coil that is too low it won’t let you. It will flash several times and then turn off.

Durability/Reliability

The battery section of the device is sturdy and well-made. It won’t break if you drop it. It is made of stainless steel and the simple construction of the device makes it impossible to do much damage to it because there are no exterior buttons (other than the power button) or screens to scratch or break.

The tank section, however, is a different story. One of the cons of this device is that it does not come with a spare glass tank. If it breaks you will have to order a new one and wait for it to arrive.

The problem that I had with it is that it is a little top heavy and is vulnerable to being knocked over when standing upright. I would lay it down on the desk or table, but then you have the rolling issues. It would have been a plus to add vape bands to protect the tank.

The airflow on this tank is good. I tend to close mine down to about halfway and that works for me. The airflow control ring is easy to turn and stops fully open and fully closed (meaning it doesn’t spin all the way around). This lets you customize the airflow to your liking.

Ease of Use

This vape pen is very easy to use, especially for beginning vapers. There is a single button and no screens or menus to fiddle with. You also do not have to set your wattage because it automatically senses the coil settings and adjusts the wattage accordingly.

Vaping Experience

My experience using this e-liquid vape pen overall was good. I like that it is easy to use, and I can vape while it charges. I didn't have any issues with it and it performs the way it is supposed to. It’s great for trips to the store or running errands when you don’t want to carry a big mod with you. It is also small enough to slip in your pocket or purse for the day and not worry about it.

Filling

Filling this tank could not be any easier. Push in on the little button on the front of the cap and twist to the right. Place your bottle tip inside the kidney-shaped opening and fill to the top of the tank. To close push twist to the left and press down to make sure it locks in place. Make sure to close off your airflow before filling to avoid leaks.

Leaking

Only issues with leaking were when I forgot to close off the airflow before refilling the tank. It leaked a little from the airflow holes but as long as I remembered to close off the airflow before opening the tank and making sure the top was closed tight before reopening the airflow, it worked like a charm.

Cloud

The cloud production is very good. Thick, dense vapor. The coil heads have plenty of juice slots so there is no worry of dry hits and that helps with vapor production as well. The vapor does get weak as the battery drains so use that to determine when to charge the battery.

Flavor

The flavor of your juice comes through without any muting. I used a Coconut cake e-liquid with this tank and the flavor of the coconut is sweet and crisp.

Value

This is a good deal for the money. It makes a great starter kit for someone who wants to try vaping but doesn’t have a lot of money to spend on equipment. The price for this device right now is between $30 and $35 at most retailers, which is a steal for a complete setup. The kit comes with everything you need to get started except the e-liquid. Add on $20 for juice and you're set for a total investment of $50.

What We Liked

+ Easy to use
+ 1-button function
+ Large tank for e-liquid
+ Good value for the money

What We Didn't

- Is a bit top heavy
- Does not come with a spare tank
- Performance dips when the battery goes down

Final Verdict

The battery life for this device depends on how much or how little you vape it. For me, I vape a lot and because of that, the battery would last me about 4 hours on the average if I just sit and vape it continuously.

For someone who vapes less frequently, you could probably go all day without having to recharge. This device is perfect for new vapers and soon-to-be vapers. The price is good for any budget and the simple 1-button functionality makes it perfect for beginners or even as a backup device for more advanced vapers. Eleaf iCare Solo Review

Overview:

If you are looking for a beginner device for a smoker to try and get them off cigarettes then this may be just the thing. It’s small and compact, but works like a charm. Our review of the Eleaf iCare Solo Kit and it is the big brother to the iCare Mini. Eleaf is a quality manufacturer of e-liquid vape pens. This device comes with two coil heads, a USB charging cable, and users manual.

We spent 30+ hours with this device testing, reviewing and charging to see how well it performed, and if it would hold up to the demands of frequent vaping such as with someone who just quit smoking cigarettes. I wish I would have had this device when I first quit tobacco cigarettes. It is about the same size, has a similar draw to a cigarette, and produces good vapor.

It would have been easier for me to quit if I had one of these when I first started vaping. As it was, the device I had back then wasn’t that great and I went back to smoking a few more times before finding a device that worked well enough for me. Successful vaping is determined by two things: your device and your nicotine level. If you pair the right device with the right nicotine level then you will find that you don’t even miss tobacco cigarettes.

For beginning vapers this type of device is perfect. It can use higher nicotine levels because it has an above-ohm coil and 15W of power is more than enough at 1.1 ohms to produce good vapor clouds. Experienced vapers like using one of these as a backup device or to take on the go for stealth vaping. Here are some details about this device:

Features:

  • 350mah battery
  • 1.5 mil juice capacity
  • 1.1 ohm Eleaf IC coil series
  • Maximum wattage output: 15W

Pros:

  • Easy to use
  • Compact size
  • Mouth-to-lung draws
  • Good airflow for a small device
  • Comes with 2 X 1. Ohm coil heads
  • USB charge port is on the side
  • Available in 5 colors: red, black, white, cyan, champagne

Cons:

  • Not long battery life
  • The battery is only 350 mah
  • Airflow is not adjustable
  • Needs frequent charging for heavy vapers

Filling

A top up line on the front of the tank area shows you where to fill to and the mouthpiece comes off to make refilling a breeze. Fill with e-liquid, replace the air pipe and mouthpiece and vape away. The nice thing about this device is it can be taken anywhere and used discretely when you don’t want to blow big clouds. It produces good vapor for a small device but is good for stealth vaping on the sly.

Battery Life

I really like this device but for me personally, it just doesn’t have a long enough battery life to last me all day. I vape frequently and find myself needing to charge it often. The good thing about it is the built-in battery charges very quickly, and in less than an hour is ready to go again. It’s perfect for running errands and short trips out and about. For someone who vapes frequently, I would suggest buying two devices so you can use one while charging the other.

Airflow

The mouth-to-lung draw on this device is just right. It’s not too tight or too airy. I would prefer the airflow to be adjustable but it’s pretty good as it is. There is no ring or slot for the airflow, it’s just two holes one on each side of the mouthpiece. You can use mouth-to-lung draws or a slightly restrictive direct lung hit. Both are good and the vapor production on this little beauty is amazing.

Price: Currently priced under $15 for the starter kit.

Bottom Line:

This is a great device for someone wanting to try vaping without making a big investment or committing to something long-term. It’s economical at less than $15 for a starter kit and you can’t beat the price for a vape pen that works this well. With the quality of these newer devices, I believe more people will find them easy to use, affordable and a portable alternative to carrying around a big mod.

Sense Herakles 3 Sub-ohm Tank Review

Overview:

The Sense brand of vapor products is well-known. The Herakles, Herakles Plus, and Blazer tanks are all great tanks and now they have improved on this with the Herakles 3. The Herakles 3 has a new top-fill design with hinge for easier filling and increased bottom airflow control for bigger clouds and more flavor. We admit that we were not that impressed with the original Herakles, the design of the airflow control and juice ports made it hard to see when it was completely closed which resulted in a lot of leaking which we did not like.

After testing this tank for about 2 weeks we decided that we really like the top hinge design since we can almost fill it one-handed. The top can be a little hard to close and you have to make sure when closing it that you press down and turn to the left all the way to close. We did this on the first day and spilled a whole tank of juice because the lid wasn’t all the way closed. After that first time, we made sure it was firmly closed.

This is a well-made sub-ohm tank that is versatile and economical because it can use other coils. It comes in 4 colors: black, blue, rainbow and stainless steel. The glass tank section is Borosilicate Glass (Pyrex), which is a type of glass that is heat and shatter-resistant. It can handle the heat of higher wattages without cracking but may break if dropped.

Here are some details for this tank:

Features:

  • Pyrex glass tank
  • 510 Delrin drip tip
  • 4.5 mil juice capacity
  • Made from 316 stainless steel
  • Wattage Range for coils from 40W-100W

Pros:

  • Choice of 4 colors
  • Bottom adjustable airflow
  • Comes with a replacement glass section
  • Compatible with TFV8 and V-Jet coil heads

Cons: None

Filling:

Filling this tank is a simple operation. Twist the top cap to the right and it flips up. The top is on a hinge which makes it really easy to fill since you don’t have to remove the cap or set it down. There are two kidney-shaped holes for juice and they are pretty wide so your bigger bottle tips should fit. The important thing to remember is to make sure to close the cap securely otherwise your tank could leak.

Tank Capacity:

The e-liquid capacity of this tank is 4.5 mils which is a lot of juice. This would last somebody all day if you were to fill it up in the morning to take to work. If you are a frequent vaper like I am, you may want to bring a small bottle for a refill for the ride home. I have not had any issues with leaking as long as the lid is securely closed.

Airflow:

The airflow control for this tank is at the bottom and you can run it fully open or close it down to halfway. The airflow is smooth with no gurgles or whistling. I like it about halfway open because it gives me more of a restrictive lung hit. Increased airflow means more vapor production. The more open it is the bigger the clouds.

Coil Heads:

This tank is compatible with the V-Jet coils to make it even more versatile. The tank comes with one coil pre-installed (.06) and a spare (.04) to get you started. Purchase a set of replacement coils from a variety of online retailers so you’re never caught short when a coil breaks. The V-Jet coil system is an improvement over the old Herakles. The coils wick better and the airflow increases the flavor and vapor production. It is also compatible with mesh coils.

‘Price: This tank is priced at $24.95

Bottom Line:

This tank is well-made and durable and an improvement on the design makes it even better than the original Herakles and Herakles Plus. Priced under $25 there is really no reason not to get one. It is affordable and a great tank to have on hand, or to pass onto a friend who may want to upgrade their set up.

Wotofo Flow Sub-ohm Tank Review

Overview:

In the world of sub-ohm tanks, there are two types of vapers. There are the cloud chasers and then there are the flavor chasers. Now, this tank puts out some pretty impressive clouds but it is more geared towards better flavor than big cloud production.

When reviewing this device (I purchased a blue one to go with my Tugboat DNA mod), I spent about a week testing it with a couple of different juices to see how true the flavor comes across and it was spot on. The flavors were crisp (especially the apple) and the blue raspberry flavor was sweet and fruity and tasted like a blue Slushie. I have found that sometimes the flavors of your juice is somewhat muted in some tanks, but that is not the case with this one.

The flavor produced by this tank is really good and cloud production is amazing. This is not the type of tank for cloud competitions, it produces good vapor but not clouds upon clouds. It is designed more for flavor than clouds. I am typically an RDA person but I really enjoy this tank and I keep it for those times when I don’t feel like dripping. Here are a few specifications on this tank:

Features:

    • Top fill design
    • 5 color options
    • 2 - 4 mil Juice capacity
    • Stainless steel and Pyrex glass
    • Dual Adjustable Bottom Airflow
    • Silver-plated 510 connection
    • Maximum wattage output: 60W

    Pros:

    • Two large fill ports
    • Uses 510 drip tips
    • Smooth airflow
    • Coil heads have 12 feed slots, no dry hits

    Cons:

    • Whistles a little when more than ½ way closed

    Filling:

Filling this tank couldn’t be easier. Just open the top cap and put your bottle tip in one of the two big, wide juice holes and fill it up. One thing I really like about the design of the tank is the top cap has bevels or notches all around it making it easy to grip and twist open without unscrewing your tank from the base. I don’t know how many times I have gone to refill a tank and ended up unscrewing the glass and leaking juice all over my hand because the top was over tightened and stuck to the tank section. I did not have a problem loosening this cap it was easy to open and tighten back down.

    Airflow:

The airflow is adjustable and you can choose to have it all the way open or closed down halfway or more. I did find that if I closed it down too far it did produce a slight whistle on the inhale. But not too bad. I like to keep it about ½ way open as a rule and the airflow is really good. The bottom airflow ring turns smoothly and stop fully open or fully closed. Does not go all the way around like some others.

    Coil Heads:

The coil heads for these are made by Wotofo and are .25 ohms. The nice thing about this tank is that it is also compatible with the TFV8 Baby Beast coil heads. Some like them, some don’t (the Smok coils) and for those that don’t Medusa has made a version of the Baby Beast coil that is also compatible with this tank and the Baby Beast. The recommended wattage for the stock coils is between 35 and 60 W.

    Price:$15 - $30

This tank is advertised between $15 and $30 at most online retailers. At $15 it is a steal for a flavor tank that works this well and looks great on any mod you put it on. It is short and stubby so it sits perfectly on shorter mods without looking too big or being top heavy. This is a great price for this well-made, high-performing tank.

    Bottom Line:

All around, this tank has everything you need for great flavor and good vapor production. There really isn’t anything I don’t like about it. The whistle isn’t really an issue for me and probably won’t be for anyone else. It’s a minor flaw. The fact that it can use other coils is a big plus, especially when the vape shop is out of the stock coils. This is a great tank for the price and one you should have in your collection of vape tanks.
